On foot
Little Walks
From the town, just walking on any of the ways or little paths we find, visitors can discover landscapes worthy of praise; this is the particular charm of the region.
Refreshing ourselves in one of the many springs, to go down to touch the water that runs through the stream bed of the Segre, to find caves or hidden hermitages of troglodyte origin…We can not leave without visiting the Hermitage of Salgar, just 5 minutes away from the town.
Taking these small walks, guests of Cal Xeco can observe the typical fauna of the zone: luckily for the enthusiasts, this zone is a refuge for migratory birds. They can also follow the traces of the different animals that go down to the valley searching for food.
They also have the entire flora within their reach; we can pick up medicinal herbs during the whole year. The orchards and vegetable gardens, the sown fields that colour the landscape, have also their admirers.
Visiting near towns
Montsonís is surrounded by small centres of great cultural and tourist interest. Either one can visit medieval monuments and Romanesque churches, or one can enjoy the typical gastronomy of the region.
Some near towns are Baldomar -one has to visit the wine cellars -, Clua, known because of the elaboration of a famous cheese; Alós, with the Segre River next to it and the sown fields at its back; Rubió, where one can do horse riding; Foradada, and many others, with Artesa de Segre as the commercial centre in the middle of the valley. One can not lose the opportunity to be in Artesa on Sunday to visit the market; people from the "planas" and from the mountains get together at this market, making a big crowd that gives life to the zone.
