- BALAGUER
Just a few kilometres on car, Balaguer is another quite interesting option. There, the market is on Saturdays. Besides, visitors can admire the Church of Santa María, and the convent of Sant Domènec, both of them of gothic style; they can also take a look of the defensive walls of the medieval age, or visit the Castle Formós that has its origins in the Arabs.
- ÀGER
Àger is another town with a lot of personality. The magnificent building of the castle, the romanesque church of Sant Pere, the gothic cloister and the Roman sepulchre of the parish church, are only some of the attractive features of this town.
- RÚBIES AND VILANOVA DE MEIÀ
A journey over the boundaries of the municipality of Rubíes or Vilanova de Meià can become an authentic discovery of the history of these places, since one can find several fossils.
- AGRAMUNT
And if one wants to combine ancestral and sweet traditions, Agramunt is the ideal place to be. There, visitors can admire the door of the Church of Santa Maria dels Socors, enter the famous factory of turron (nougat) and visit the Space Guinovart.
Josep Guinovart (1927) is a vanguardist painter, pride of the town of Agramunt. His works are exhibited in the antique municipal market, and they surprise because of the technique of their author, and because of their original way of representing the antique traditions of the zone.
